Engaging Stakeholders on Projects: Interview with Elizabeth Harrin | Video

Elizabeth Harrin’s new book is called: ‘Engaging Stakeholders on Projects: How to harness people power’.

Elizabeth Harrin is an experienced Project Manager who runs:

And, like me, Elizabeth’s an author, with 6 print books to date (including the latest). They are closely related to Project Management.

Engaging Stakeholders on Projects

Elizabeth’s latest book is Engaging Stakeholders on Projects. It was published by the Association for Project Management (APM) on 21 September 2020. So, it’s red-hot off the presses!

So, I wanted to ask Elizabeth some of the questions that occurred to me as I read her book. But the first thing I need to say is how good it is. And I know how hard it is to write a book to a publisher’s brief. Stakeholder engagement is a big topic.

Having read her book, I think Elizabeth’s book will appeal to new project managers – while also having some great insights for experienced PMs.

The Questions You’ll Hear Elizabeth Answer

  1. Why is Stakeholder Engagement important for PMs?
  2. What is your favorite part of this book? …and why?
  3. I particularly liked the section on the Stakeholder Saliency model. Can you tell us what stakeholder saliency is?
  4. Desert Island Tools time… You’re stranded on a desert island and can only keep one tool to help you manage your stakeholders. (Not so deserted, it seems!) Which one do you choose?
  5. What is your top piece of advice for Project Managers about stakeholder engagement?

This video is safe for viewing in the workplace.

This is learning, so, sit back and enjoy

I asked Project Managers in a couple of forums what material things you need to have, to do your job as a Project Manager. They responded magnificently. I compiled their answers into a Kit list. I added my own.
